Harrisburg Regional Chamber & Capital Region Economic Development Corporation (CREDC) Holds 2006 Annual Meeting

RICK ATKINSON AND LAWRENCE M. KLUGER HONORED FOR THEIR SERVICE; CATALYST AWARD GIVEN TO BENJAMIN OLEWINE III

HARRISBURG (March 13, 2007) Nearly 600 members of the business community were in attendance at the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC (HRC/CREDC) 2006 Annual Meeting, featuring a keynote address from workforce guru and founder of RainmakerThinking, Inc., Bruce Tulgan. The program's agenda included the announcement of the 2006 Catalyst Award recipient, a year in review summary, and the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC Boards of Directors recognition of outgoing Chairs.

Rick Atkinson, 2006 Chair of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber Board of Directors and Lawrence Kluger, 2006 Chair of CREDC were honored for their service guiding the organization to a successful and productive year.

"It has been my privilege and pleasure to serve as the 2006 Chair of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber," stated Atkinson. "The Chamber and CREDC provide outstanding service to our members, and to the entire region.  With dedicated, visionary leadership, talented and highly motivated staff, and loyal, hard-working volunteers throughout central Pennsylvania , the Chamber and CREDC will continue to excel.  I am proud to say that everything we have done, and continue to do, is about tomorrow."

"It's been an honor to work with the CREDC and Chamber staff over the past few years as they facilitated countless economic development initiatives in our region," added Kluger. "We are truly fortunate to have such a dedicated and professional team serving the central Pennsylvania business community."

"I really enjoyed working with Rick and Larry as they invested their time, talent and support in an extraordinary manner over the past year leading the Chamber and CREDC Boards respectively," stated David Black, President & CEO of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC. "They both greatly contributed toward leading the organization to an amazing year."

The Harrisburg Regional Chamber & Capital Region Economic Development Corporation 's (CREDC) accomplishments were summarized in their annual report that was distributed to attendees.

Benjamin "Ben" Olewine III, regional philanthropist and founder of Olewine's, Inc.,now Sysco, received the Catalyst award in recognition of his contributions to the growth of the region.Many organizations have benefited from Olewine's philanthropic endeavors. Harrisburg Area Community College, Home land Center, Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, Dauphin County Library System, Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts and Hospice of Central Pennsylvania are just a few of his many beneficiaries. The Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC serves as a catalyst for promoting growth and quality of life in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry Counties by providing a unique blend of business, community and economic development and advocacy services under one roof to boost our economic vitality and livability as a region. HRC/CREDC has been accredited with four stars from the United States Chamber of Commerce.
