The Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC Provides Financing to Trinity Harvest for the Purchase of Save-A-Lot, an Urban Grocery Store, Located in the Uptown Shopping Plaza

HARRISBURG, PA (November 17, 2008) - The Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC (HRC/CREDC) announced today that it partnered with PNC Bank and Dauphin County to provide financing to Trinity Harvest, Inc. for the purchase of Save-A-Lot, an urban grocery store, located at 2963 North 7th Street, Harrisburg.

Trinity Harvest, Inc. is a Pennsylvania Corporation owned by Henry Edwards who has over 40 years of experience as operator and at additional executive levels in the grocery business.  Mr. Edwards has held positions with national and global corporations in this industry and has consulted to small and medium size grocery store companies in urban areas throughout the east coast.  Trinity Harvest purchased the Save-A-Lot Food Stores, in the Uptown Shopping Plaza, from its parent corporation in St. Louis. Mr. Edwards' goal is to provide quality and competitively priced grocery products to urban families with the emphasis being on fresh vegetables, fruit, and meat.

"This project highlights the importance we place on quality of life issues in Dauphin County," stated Commissioner Nick DiFrancesco.  "We have long fought to ensure that the basic needs of our community are met.  Surprisingly, meeting the basic nutritional needs of our urban communities has been a challenge.  Our contribution today is not only an investment in the health and well-being of the families who will use this fine facility, but also an investment in the health and well-being of our community."

Currently, Save-A-Lot employs two full-time cashiers, one clerk and one manager.  Trinity Harvest has committed to retain four full-time jobs and create four full-time jobs within three years.

HRC/CREDC provided a Minority Business Development Fund (MBDF) loan in the amount of $80,000 in conjunction with financing from PNC Bank and Dauphin County Economic Development.  The MBDF loan program is designed to stimulate the expansion and assist in the retention of minority owned businesses for the purpose of creating new jobs and retaining existing jobs in Pennsylvania.  The MBDF provides low-interest rate financing for a portion of new projects undertaken by minority business enterprises unable to fully finance their costs with equity, bank financing, or other private and public sources.  The following groups fit the state's definition of ethnic minority for this program: African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans, Native Americans, Eskimos, and Aleuts.  The Chamber & CREDC funded the Minority Business Development program with a loan from the Pennsylvania Minority Business Development Authority within the Department of Community and Economic Development.

The Capital Region Economic Development Corporation (CREDC), is the economic development arm of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber, and is the leading organization for promoting and performing economic development activities in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties.  The group offers a variety of programs and resources to help attract, retain and expand business in the region.

The Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC serves as a catalyst for promoting growth and quality of life in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry Counties by providing a unique blend of business, community and economic development and advocacy services under one roof to boost our economic vitality and livability as a region. HRC/CREDC has been accredited with four stars from the United States Chamber of Commerce.
